Jon Emmanuel

UK Associate Director

Training: BA (hons) in English and Drama (University of Surrey) and went on to study at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating with merit.

Jon has been the UK Associate Director on Jersey Boys since it opened in the West End in 2008 (at the Prince Edward and Piccadilly theatres).

Associate Director: David Esbjornson’s Broadway production of Driving Miss Daisy, starring Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones and Boyd Gaines (Wyndham’s Theatre), and directed the subsequent UK tour, starring Gwen Taylor and Don Warrington. Resident director on Fame (Aldwych Theatre).

Directing: Buddy (Channel Islands); the CBeebies Christmas Pantomime – Jack and Jill (BBC1 and CBeebies); directed the young Tommys in Des McAnuff’s Tommy (UK tour); Sleeping Beauty (the Grand, Blackpool); Dick Whittington (the Grand, Blackpool, and the Anvil, Basingstoke) and Cinderella (Grimsby Auditorium).

Acting: West End: Young Alph in original cast of Lautrec (Shaftesbury); Mr Myers in Fame (Aldwych) and understudied/played the lead role, Tony, in original cast of Copacabana (Prince of Wales).

Other acting work includes: the Director in The Sunshine Boys with Ron Moody and Brian Murphy, Bill Snibson in Me and My Girl (Stella Award for Best Actor of the Year), Max in Lend Me a Tenor and Alex in Aspects of Love (all Palace Theatre, Westcliff); Brad in The Rocky Horror Show (Paris and Italy) and Jerry Allison in Buddy (original UK tour).

Television: Doctors (BBC1) and EastEnders (BBC1). Film: Only Darkness (Splendid Films).

Jon is married to director Alison Pollard, with whom he co-produced their children, Jack and Olivia.
